B is for Blueberries and Antiaging!

This potent little berry can pack a punch in your diet and in your skin care too! I love adding blueberries to my yogurt or oatmeal in the morning, eating them for a snack before lunch or topping them on my salad. Blueberries are packed with rich antioxidants which help fight aging in skin as well as preventing certain health issues like heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood sugar. And when it comes to brain power, there is nothing quite like blueberries! According to James Joseph, PhD, lead scientist at Tufts University Laboratory of Neuroscience for the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, we should all, “Call the blueberry the brain berry,” says Dr. Joseph.

The antioxidants, Vitamin A and C and the phytochemicals found in blueberries make it an excellent choice to add into skincare products to help to neutralize free radicals, which might otherwise damage skin cells, and to help improve many skin conditions like a splotchy complexion, broken capillaries and acne. Last year, as I introduced organic products into my skincare line, I really wanted to incorporate blueberries into my anti-aging products. The result? – My Bio-Repair Mask, an organic mask that not only smells wonderful but also boosts the skin’s ability to regenerate, and provide deep hydration to plump your skin. I love that this mask has anti-aging strength of organic blueberries with white tea infusion that my skin just eats up!

There is a reason why blueberries rank second to strawberries in popularity of berries. Blueberries have the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruits, vegetables, spices and seasonings. You can see why is important to incorporate this into your diet and skin care.
