Facing Your 20’s- What you should know about your Skincare

20s

Being in your 20’s is the most important decade for your skin because it’s probably at its healthiest, with great collagen support as your skin is supple. Believe it or not, most visible signs of aging are actually signs of sun damage and what you do in your 20’s will reflect how you look in your 40’s.

Read on to find out how to take care of your skin in your 20’s to prevent aging and sun damage.

Dr. Fiona Wright’s Tip:

Sun exposure will cause a breakdown in collagen creating loose, dull and rough skin. As well, the sun can make your skin over-produce melanin, resulting in brown spots and splotches. To stop sun damage from getting worse apply a UVA/UVB Sunscreen with an SPF of 20 or higher on a daily basis. At my office we recommend using ELTA OIL-FREE SPF 45 that can be used both on your face and body.

Left over teenage acne is also another major issue for people in their 20’s. At this age, using moisturizers regularly is important, but choose a “light” product- one that is gel based and oil free. My REHYDRATION COMPLEX with VITAMIN C is a perfect gel moisturizer that is light weight and hydrates skin without that oily feeling.

As well, this is the age to begin using retinol- based skin care products, using them twice a week.  At Skin MD and Beyond we recommend   RETRINAL by AveneThis cream helps in reducing the depressing signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles by offering a unique technology which provides your skin with a very effective form of vitamin A that also takes care of slowing down the aging signs without minimal discomfort.
