Many times in our clinic we have to address the concerns of “easy bruisers”. Dr. Wright herself states that she “can just look at the edge of a square table and get a bruise on her leg!” For those of you who bruise and swell easy, getting facial fillers can be quite an ordeal with respect to timing the procedure and covering any blemishes. While there are preventative measures to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling, Dr. Fiona Wright recommends certain foods and homeopathic products that can aide in this process.
Read on to find out safe and natural ways to prevent bruising and swelling after injections.
Dr. Fiona Wright’s Tip:
Homeopathic remedies have been used for centuries to safely treat a variety of conditions. A daisy-like mountain flower called Arnica has been used for medicinal purposes since the 1500s and is still popular today. This all-natural medication works well without side-effects while gently stimulating healing. Skin MD and Beyond recommends VITAMEDICA ARNICA Montana 30X, as their Arnica Montana plant is organically grown in the mountainous regions of Western Europe and U.S. which excludes dyes or colorants. I recommend my patients to take the tablets three days prior to their facial filler appointment and three days after. The product is available at the clinic.
Another great way to prevent further bruising and swelling is eating fresh papaya or pineapple. Pineapple works great in healing from within as it contains bromelain, an enzyme that speeds healing. Papain is derived from papaya and is thought to help break up the dead materials responsible for a bruise. These two together make up a mean concoction to fight against bruising!
