Nothing is harsher on your skin’s complexion than UV rays, 90% of premature aging is caused by ultraviolet rays from the sun. Also, the sun contributes to skin dryness. So never leave home without your SPF protection. If you don’t protect yourself, you could also be one in five Americans that will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Unprotected exposure to UV radiation is the most preventable risk factor for skin cancer. So be sure to always smooth on SPF before heading outside –even if it’s a cold, and cloudy day.
Dr. Wright’s Tip
Apply sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB to all exposed skin, including lips, ears, back of hands, and neck. Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 20. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going in the sun, and reapply it every 2 hours, and after swimming, exercising, or sweating. For a little more protection, try using a SPF with 30 protection.
